Day 1

We headed out around 5:00 pm Monday, July 1. Our #1 goal was to make it to Lake Charles, LA for the night so that we would knock off at least 4 hours of the estimated 12 hour drive. The kids were super excited! Honestly think their excitement grows more and more each year.

Staying occupied...

We stopped in Beaumont at 8:00 PM for a potty stop and supper. After getting back into the vehicle and distributing food we hear "my tooth". Dalton took one bite of his burger and then proceeded to pull his 3rd loose tooth. So on top of trying to get back on the road and eating my meal, I now had to figure out how not to lose a tiny baby tooth.

We crossed the Louisiana State line at 8:30 PM. Traffic was awesome and the kids were cooperating so we decided to keep on trucking when we got to Lake Charles. We made it to Baton Rouge by 10:30 PM and decided to call it a night and grabbed a room at Embassy Suites. Baton Rouge is the halfway point in our drive which meant we had 6 hours of driving left the next day. We have now stayed in every state along the way. Our 1st year we drove all the way to Biloxi, MS and last year we drove straight thru to Mobile, AL.
