Three Months...Are You Kidding???

I'm a week behind because I just can't imagine where the time has gone. I want or should say I need a magic button to stop time. It's unimaginable that three months ago our family went to four with the birth of our little princess. From the moment we laid our eyes on her in the delivery room she has captivated our hearts. Miss Mallory is now tipping the scales at 10lbs. 4oz. and has a very healthy appetite. Mallory's new trick is reaching and grabbing. She still refuses to lay on her tummy to play and continues to enjoy being in our arms most of the time. I promise to try and get more pics up over the weekend, but for now here is our three month Miss Mallory.

What can you do with SNOW in Texas?

It's the second time this winter season that we have seen are rare snowfall in Brenham, Texas. The accumulation was not significant, but it was enough to make things look like a winter wonderland at least for a few hours.

Mallory is only 3 months old and has already experienced her second snowfall. This time there was enough snow for Dalton to enjoy building a decent sized snowman equiped with sticks for his arms and rocks for eyes, mouth and buttons. Mallory decided to sleep straight through all the snow, but we snuck outside for a brief bundled up photo shoot. Snow is so rare here we had to seize the opportunity.

The cows and dog just did not know what to think of all the white stuff falling from the sky.

Dalton was pretty pround of his snowman "Mr. Snow".

Dalton getting a little help from dad to put the arms on without killing the snowman.

Rolling his first ball of snow.

Taking a cruise in the snow with his gator.

Dalton attempted to make a snow angel. He was so upset he could not see it.

The gator was just to cold to continue; time to push it back home.

mmm...tasty

Getting Some Zzzzzz

You don't realize what a good night sleep is until you don't get it. It all started last October when the bladder started waking me up at least once a night and before Mallory was born I was up at least three times a night depending on how early I went to bed. That also does not include the nightly wake up calls from Dalton. "Mommy I'm thirsty. Mommy I'm not tired anymore, let's play. Daddy, Mommy won't get up." Getting sleep seemed like to much work so some nights it was just easier to stay up or nap on the couch.

On November 18 my sleeping changed considerably. I was up and down every 2 to 3 hours day and night. Ryan offered to help during the night, but I would not let him. You see I felt guilty because I did not have to go to work and I knew his alarm was going off at 5:00 am. This pattern continued up until 2 weeks ago. YAHOOOOO!!! I can finally sleep all night with no interruptions or at least no feedings. Dalton will occasionally make his way to our bed still, but he crawls in and we are back to sleep.

I have been waiting to post this because I thought it was to good to be true, but I feel we have made this hurdle. Mallory usually takes her last night time feeding around 10:00 pm and she is out until 5:00 am, but she is my alarm clock. She always wakes right before the alarm clock is set to go off ready for her morning feeding. It could not have started at a better time with me returning to work this week. Her longest sleeping span was 7:00 pm to 4:30 am not to bad. I felt like I was starving her, but I was NOT waking a sleeping baby. Every morning she has the biggest smile on her face. What a nice wake up call.

Two Months

At Mallory's two month appointment she weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz and was 21 1/2 inches long. Dr. Draehn said according to her growth rate over the past two months she will be a small petite little girl. She is below the average both in weight and height for her age.

When I heard this it reminded me of what we were told about Dalton so I went searching for his records. At Dalton's two month appointment he weighed 10 lbs. 11 oz. and was 23 inches long. He too was well below the average both in weight and height.

So then I thought, oh well Mallory was 3 weeks early, but she only weighed 1 lb. less. My next thought... Mallory is eating less then Dalton. Not exactly...Mallory is eating at least 5 oz. at a feeding. Dalton was good if he took all 4 oz. at the same age. So what's the deal? Who knows, but I certainly hope she does not inherit her brothers eating habits. If so we are in real trouble.

Look at those gorgeous big eyes.

Two months brought the beginning of some personality. Mallory loves for you to talk to her. She is starting to coo and certainly loves to smile, but on the downside she is not very happy if you don't give her all your attention. She does not like to entertain herself very well.

Big brother is certainly a help on the entertaining issue. This time he is teaching Mallory all about Trucks.

A little Mallory and Dalton time reading books which is Dalton's new favorite thing these days.

Bath Time

Dalton and Mallory both love bath time together. Here are a few pictures of a recent bath.

Mallory's Baptism

On Sunday, January 17, 2010 Mallory Marie Winkelmann became a Child of God.

Mallory was baptized into the Christian faith by Pastor Charles Parnell at Salem Lutheran Church. Mallory's sponsors are Jacob Hetzel, Wesley Maurer, Ashlie Wachsmann and Laura Winkelmann.

Mallory has two very special people who we are blessed to have in our lives. Clarence and Ruth Jatzlau are Mallory's Honorary God Parents.

Our best attempt at a family photo, but big brother Dalton "D"islikes pictures with a capital "D" so you get what you can.

A delicous cake. Thank you again Grandma Bonnie for your hard work.

Ryan's side of the family: Maurer's and Winkelmann's except I'm not sure where big brother Dalton was at. (Hiding I'm sure.)

Stephanie's side of the family: Wachsmann's and Schulze's
