Good Friday

On this Good Friday we are reminded that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and in just two days we will rejoice in praise knowing that he rose from the dead. Mallory has been reading bible stories and singing all week which makes our hearts happy and full. This week we have enjoyed reading a poem that Mallory received in Sunday School last week and I thought I would share for everyone else.

"A handful of jelly beans...simple, colorful and sweet reminds us of the reasons He makes our life so complete!
Red is for the blood He gave.
Green is for the grass He made.
Black is for the sins we made.
White is for the grace He gave.
Purple is for His hour of sorrow.
Pink is for our new tomorrow.
Orange is for the edge of night.
Yellow is for the sun so bright."

We Are The World

On Friday, April 4 the Bouncing Bears and 1st Grade children of St. Paul's Christian Day School presented a musical entitled "We Are The World"! It was a magical performance and was a reminder of just how important life is and who we should thank for it. Hearing songs belted out like, "We Are The World", "I Believe", "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing", "We Are Family", "I Am One Voice", "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands", "Hands Around The World", "It's A Little Bit Of Heaven", "Put A Little Love In Your Heart", "Jesus At The Center", "Whatever You Do", and "We Are" coming from 4 year olds and 7 year olds was re-assuring that St. Paul's CDS is a blessing in our lives. We made a choice to raise our children in a christian atmosphere and St. Paul's is doing just that.

Getting A Hook On Cancer

Once again Dalton and Ryan participated in the Getting A Hook On Cancer fishing tournament. This year Jacob Hetzel also joined in on the fun. They might not have had an luck catching bass, but they did manage to real in some prize winning catfish. Dalton got 2nd place in the kids division with his catfish weighing in at 5.60 lbs. Ryan got 2nd in the adult division with his catfish weighing in at 14.82 lbs and Jacob got 3rd place with his catfish weighing in at 13.10 lbs. We look forward to this wonderful fundraiser benefiting the American Cancer Society every year.

Fishing

Last Saturday after the Blue Bell Fun Run, Maifest practice and a Birthday Party we headed out to Lake Somerville for a little family fishing. We did not actually catch a fish the couple of hours we were on the water, but it gave us an opportunity to spend some quality family time together.

Economics Fair

The 2nd grade class at Krause studied economics the entire 5th six weeks so to round out the final week each student got to pick a good or service to sell during the Economics Fair this past Thursday. Dalton immediately knew what he wanted to sell "Cookies". He baked cookies, packaged them and then created his advertisement. It was a great learning experience and it was interesting to see what he came home with that he bought during his time buying time.

State Float Project

Dalton had to research the state of Maryland as a major grade for Social Studies during the 5th six weeks of school. He wrote his research paper in class and then had to create a state float at home. I'm impressed with his creation. He insisted the float had to have wheels so Ryan and Dalton got creative.

Game 5

Dalton played his 5th game of the season this past Wed. The Dodgers lost to the Indians but Dalton had a great game. Mallory enjoys playing with her friend Jenna at all the games.

The Batter's Box

Dalton has been taking batting lessons at The Batter's Box in Brenham weekly since the first of February. This past Wednesday we finally saw those lessons begin to pay off. Dalton had a fabulous hit, but was robbed by an even more remarkable catch by the short stop. In his fifth game of the season he had two solid hits and no strikeouts.

Blue Bell Fun Run

Ryan and I completed our 1st 5K together last weekend. I finished in 43:01 (A personal record for me.) and Ryan finished about 5 minutes ahead of me because of his long stride. So excited that we were able to do this together!! Thanks babe for going along with my crazy idea!

2nd Game

Last night Dalton had his second baseball game. The boys played hard, made some great plays, but then made mental mistakes when it counted and in the end it was a tough loss 7-8 against the Red Sox.

Spring Time

Loving the amazing weather we have been receiving. I wish it would be year round. Last Friday the kids took Easter pictures with the live bunnies. I'll save the actual picture until closer to Easter, but afterwards I was able to get a rare picture of them together, semi-happy.

Lee Co Jr Livestock Show 2014

This past Saturday we made our way back to Giddings for the annual livestock show. It was a long day but the kids were able to check out all the animals. By the afternoon they both wanted rabbits and Mallory informed us she was showing piggies.
