10 1/2 Month Update

Just realized I never did a 10 month update on Mallory so here is a 10 1/2 month update. The big news this month is she finally cut her first tooth last week. She continues to gain balance and self control. She is now standing by herself without holding on and she took one step Sunday night by herself before falling down. She is starting to eat puffs, vanilla wafers, and rice crispies. I think if we can get another tooth or two she will get the chewing/gumming thing down. She just wants to swallow everything before chewing. Here are a few pictures I took the other night because I have not gotten the camera out since the fair.

Did I mention she also loves to climb!

 1st slide all by herself

She absolutely loves to swing.

Washington County Fair

We look forward to the Washington County Fair every year and this year was no exception. The week was here before we knew it and it was over in a blink of an eye. This was Mallory's first year for the fair and she did what we expected and took it all in. This was the first year that Dalton really understood the fair and all the things that go with it. He was so excited to be picked up from school each day, change into his cowboy jeans, boots and hat and head down to the fair. It was not just the fair, but the Washington County Fair. He was too cute. We tried to take in a few things each night, but we did mainly what Dalton wanted to do. Next year he will have to share some of the time with Mallory.

Field Trip to the Fair

Dalton's class took a field trip last Friday down to the Washington County Fair. It was one hot and muggy morning, but the kids had a blast. Below is a picture of Mrs. Winkelmann's AM and PM Ocean Treasures class.

It was a long hot wait for the petting zoo, but well worth the smiles on the kids faces.

They watched a Wild West Show...

Checkout the horse...you don't see that everyday!

They got to shell ears of corn...what kid does that anymore?

Where does MILK come from? The kids got to watch a live milking demonstration.

And the fair would not be complete without visiting the fair projects.

And Mallory's 1st Word is....

DaDa...

Saying it is the easy part. Trying to record it was a little difficult. She shuts up when I get the camera out. The following clip takes her a few seconds to warm up, but then I caught her. It's actually pretty cute because Ryan is sitting at the kitchen table and when she says DaDa she turns her head toward him.

Mallory's New Tricks

Here are a couple random things I have caught Mallory doing lately:

#1: She loves to climb. It does not matter what it is she will crawl on, into or over. She is a very determined little girl.

#2: She is gaining her balance. I caught her very briefly the other night standing all by herself.

Misc. Photos

We have not been up to much lately so I decided to get the camera out and snap a few pictures around the house. Mallory is becoming a little photogenic poser which I'm so not used to. When Dalton sees a camera he takes off the other direction, hence the few pictures I ever have of him. Not sure where he gets that from, maybe me. I never take good pictures so I would much rather be behind the camera and the one taking the pictures.

Anyways, we are all doing good and like this time every year we are gearing up for the 142nd Washington County Fair this week. It will be a crazy week, but one we look forward to ever year. There should hopefully be lots of fair pictures to post in the days ahead.

Very rarely do we not see a smile on this cute face.

Mallory is learning to try new things, not very successful yet, but I have confidence it won't be much longer. She has really taken to eating stage 3 foods within the last few weeks, something Dalton would not attempt at this age.

Check out the new accessories. Mallory got her 1st pair of tennis shoes a couple of weeks ago. She is ready to run now.

Workbench and tools seem to be the most entertaining toy, but at least someone plays with them. See how determined she is tip toes and all.

Dalton reading his library book to Mallory.

Mallroy decided that was enough storytime.

Check out the frustration in Dalton's face. It never fails that Mallory wants what Dalton has. He loves his sister so much!! Let the fights begin.
