Welcome Mallory Marie Winkelmann

Mallory Marie joined our family at 1:40 pm on November 18, 2009 weighing 5 lbs. 12 oz. and measuring 19 1/2 in long. She is an absolute delight and very easy going baby. A true surprise to both Ryan and I because we truely believed deep down it was another boy; however Dalton continued to remind us he was going to have a new little sister.

I guess we should have listened to him. I was so sure it was another little boy that I washed all Dalton's baby clothes 0-6 mos and they are hanging in the closet at home. A little blue won't hurt will it....I'm sure it won't take long before she will have her own new wardrobe and toys. All those trucks and tractors will have to find a new home.

We are all doing well. Mallory continues to sleep all day and night and we can tell already she will require attention. She would much rather be held then lay in her bassinett. Oh what fun it will be, but don't get me wrong we will cherish every moment.

Here are the first pictures with the family immediately after Mallory was born. I'm actually still in the labor and delivery room.

Cast is Gone - My how time flies

Can you believe it has been 3 weeks. It seems just like yesterday we got the call from St. Pauls. I have to give Dalton credit for being so understanding and accepting. It could really have been a long 3 weeks, but he adjusted well and did not give us to many problems being one handed. He did not let the cast stop him from anything. Dalton got his cast off on Tues. and is in a splint for 1 week during the day so he does not re-injury, primarily at school.

Won't Be To Much Longer...

Until we meet the newest Winkelmann family member maybe sooner than we had anticipated. I had my scheduled weekly doctor appointment yesterday and the news is I have dilated a good 2cm, contractions have started and the doctor could feel fingers, so we know the baby is moving into place. We will continue to be patient and wait until the baby decides it is ready. My next appointment is Wed. Nov. 18th if I make it until then. That is all I know for now. Continue to stay tuned. I will try my best to keep everyone updated.

So here is the latest belly pic and probably the last one.

Baby Update

I have had several people ask "Well, how much longer?" so I decided it was time to give an update on the baby. First of all, everything is good. My actual due date is December 3, only 28 days to go or sooner.

The baby continues to grow, maybe a little faster than we would like, but none-the-less I'm still feeling good and am ALL baby. I have only gained approximately 14 lbs, but I'm measuring a week and a half ahead of schedule. I have two more appointments scheduled one each week for the next two weeks. Then if no baby by November 23/24 and I continue to measure ahead of schedule the Dr. has decided he will induce and there will be a baby by Thanksgiving. At my last appointment he confirmed that he will not allow me to go past 39 weeks (Thanksgiving Day). I told him I was NOT going to be in the hospital if I absolutely did not have to be on Thanksgiving so we will pray this baby decides to come on its own before then.

Otherwise I still have lots to do to get ready including packing the bags, getting baby clothes washed, picking baby names and cleaning the house. I really don't want to come home to a dirty house. Continue to check the blog periodically for any baby updates. Once the baby makes it's safe arrival this will be where I post 1st pictures. NO we still DO NOT know the gender. Just a little longer.

Trick or Treat

Arrr...Matey!

For 2009 Dalton decided he wanted to be a Pirate for Halloween. The past 3 years I have been able to pick out his costumes, but this year was no such luck. He is finally old enough to understand the whole costume and trick or treating thing. He might have been able to pick his costume this year, but mom and dad still refused to take him house to house trick or treating.

We continued with tradition this year by only stopping by great-grandparents and grandparents houses for Halloween. Maybe next year we will allow a few additional stops, but just to load up on candy will NEVER happen. Dalton is energetic enough with no sugar, but candy in the house only drives mom and dad insane.

Jersey Barnyard

Last Saturday we took Dalton to the Jersey Barnyard in La Grange for some pumpkin pictures and to visit the animals. We did this a few years back when he was smaller, but decided he might enjoy it again this year. However, we did not plan for him to break his wrist the day before... so needless to say all our pictures include his nice temporary cast. Dalton did have fun with all the pumpkins and then was able to enjoy some Blue Bell Ice Cream afterwards. Bribery, it seems to do the trick.
