Day 8 - Bay Fishing

Day 8, our last day in Florida and it was our earliest morning. You would think we would have planned this better but before we ever left Texas we had decided to charter a fishing trip and this was the only day open when we booked. Of all the things we had done and seen the past three years while at the beach in Florida fishing was not one of them and it was something Daddy had always wanted to do. So on Friday, July 18 we HAD to set alarms. We got up at 4:30 AM and headed out fishing in St. Andrew's Bay. We chartered a private fishing trip with Captain Steve of Blessed Moon Charters. We left the condo at 5:15 AM and made it to the marina by 5:45 AM. We were on the water by 6:00 AM for a half day of fishing. It was a slow morning. Dalton caught most of the fish. We brought home trout, flounder and Spanish Mackerel.

We grabbed a quick bite for lunch at Chick-fil-A and then headed back to the condo so we could spend our last afternoon on the beach. The water temperature was cool due in part by cloudy skies. The water was so clear we could see forever by walking out. We probably went out 200 yards or more and could clearly see our feet. That was the same while fishing. You could clearly see the bay bottom and watch the fish swim around. We picked up lots of shells with the clear water. We left the beach at 5:00 PM and headed to the pools. The kids really did not play in the water park at all this year like in years past. Maybe we have finally out grown it. After an hour or so we headed up to the room to clean up and start packing. We ate all our leftovers in the fridge for supper and had everything packed and the vehicle loaded by 10:00 PM and were off to bed.

It's amazing that even though most of North America is cold and icy, Florida still retains that comfortable temperature range. Anyway, it looks like the kids had tons of fun in the fishing trip, judging by their big smiles while fishing and their tired looks while going home. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your lovely kids! Wishing your family all the best!
