Ryan and I headed out January 6 for a ski trip to Colorado. We left the kiddos with Granny and Grandpa and never looked back. The time away was much needed after the crazy holiday fun. Our flight left Austin at 8:30 am and we arrived in Denver a short two hours later. After grabbing our rental car we hit the Colorado highway.
Our first stop was Vail. We enjoyed lunch at Quobe.
The Ritz Carlton in Vail!
Downtown Breckenridge our first night. It was a pleasant surprise to see all the Christmas decorations and lights still up.
The week we were there the locals were celebrating the winter God "ULLR". We decided to see what all the hype was the first night. We enjoyed listening to a local band, drinking a few beverages and then watched the crowning of the King and Queen.
Day 2 we hit the slopes. We enjoyed lunch and drinks at Coppertop.
We stayed in a ski in/ski out suite at Beaver Run Resort. This was extremely nice. There was no need to hop in a vehicle. Once we parked the car we either walked or took the resort shuttle to and from where we needed to go. The shuttle would drop you off just about anywhere in town and then when you were ready to be picked up you called a number and they sent one directly to you. Service at it's best!
We had a cute little visitor outside our room window the second evening.
The second night of ULLR Fest activities included "Olympic" games. These were absolutely hilarious but photo's were nearly impossible. I did manage to snap this one. Games included, snowboard races, frying pan toss and ski boot race in fresh powder.
A few pictures of downtown Breckenridge.
Downtown river completely frozen over.
Atop Keystone...
Sunrise from the mountains on our drive back to Denver to head home.
The remaining pictures were taken on my cell phone so please disregard the order. The picture below is our lunch in Vail on the first day.
The night of the National Championship game we decided to hit up a local pub and catch the game. We enjoyed local mexican food and drinks.
The only picture we took while on the slopes.
