Our last day was spent touring San Francisco, mostly by foot other than a 2-hr narrated open top cable car ride. We made the most of the day and tried to cover every inch of the city and our feet and legs did not let us forget it either.
I thought this was so cool. I've seen them on tv but never in person.
During our tour we drove past the Argonaut Hotel, San Francisco's only 5-star hotel!!
A sample of the main span of the Golden Gate Bridge. The main span is 4200 feet. One cable is 7650 ft long and 36 3/8 inch in diameter. The cable along with suspenders and accessories is 24,500 tons. There are 27,572 wires in each cable.
In May, San Francisco will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge.
On our tour stop we actually walked out onto the bridge.
More pictures of homes. Notice these actually have small lawns which is rare in the city.
The houses below are known as "The Painted Ladies." They are Victorian style homes, but what makes them famous is the middle (yellow) house. The tv series "Full House" was filmed inside for those of you that remember the show.
San Francisco City Hall. It's not the best picture but the tour guide told us that it's the same size as the White House in D.C.
"The Condor" - San Francisco's 1st topless bar which is still open today.
The tour guide told us that if we want a little food with our garlic "The Stinking Rose" is the place to go!
Our lunch stop for a quick bite to eat.
We spent the afternoon in Chinatown.
Who's hungry?
Fresh produce anyone?
From Chinatown I wanted to make a stop at Macy's which is supposedly the second largest to New York. 7 floors could have taken some time to do some serious shopping. Instead we browsed a short time and headed to Bloomingdales.
At Bloomingdales I did make one purchase, a necklace.
We ended the night at Pier 39 to enjoy our last meal at the Crab House which is know for their dungeness crab.
Who's hungry now! We enjoyed a fabuous dinner of grilled crab and shrimp!
