Getting A Hook On Cancer

Last Saturday Ryan and Dalton participated in the Getting A Hook On Cancer fishing tournament to raise money for Relay For Life. Although they did not catch the prize winning bass they were able to stock our tank with their catch. They also had a category for largest catfish which Dalton placed 1st in the kid division with. We enjoyed the afternoon full of activities and snatched a few things in the silent auction to support a worthy cause.

Dalton and Ryan with the 8.18 lb catfish. Dalton got a fishing pole for his 1st place finish.

The kids enjoyed playing games.

And eating. This is how Mallory eats her hot dog's!

The live auction had two live bunnies and these where popular among the kids. So popular the cage started coming apart.

After the live and silent auctions ended they did a balloon release. Each child was able to write a message to heaven and release it.

Livestock Show

Last Friday Nana picked both kids up and took them to Giddings to the Lee County Jr. Livestock Show. Ryan and I headed out after work. I did not take the camera with me but I did manage to capture a few pics on my phone. Both enjoyed petting the goats, but was not sure about the pigs. They also both enjoyed the rabbits but I don't have a picture of that.

Chapel Offering

This week's chapel offering was for the upcoming Relay For Life in Brenham with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Each child received a bag they could decorate any way they like.

Enjoying the Time Change

We are certainly enjoying the additional daylight that we have in the evenings. The weather has been pleasant which allows the kids an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. The only negative is time gets away from us and bedtimes are way to late. Here's tonight's enjoyment!

Spring Break 2012

Spring break has come and gone for our clan. No fabulous trip to blog about, no big news to share, it was just simply another week for us with the exception that Dalton was out of school. No school means no where for little man to go but to work with mommy and daddy. Friday daddy decided to take the boat out and they headed to Lake Somerville for a little fishing. Poor Mallory never new any difference and went to Mrs. Peggy's everyday. I imagine in years to come we won't get away with low key spring breaks like this.

Playing with the bait was super fun!

The fish of the day - white bass!

I'd say it was a good day!

On Sunday we headed to Giddings to do a little pond fishing!

These guys (10) were the perfect size for catch and release - release that is in our tank at home.

Mallory enjoyed napping in the truck.

And then when she woke up she was more interested in the cows then the fish.

"Catch of the Day" - We let him go in Uncle Randy's tank.

Checking out the fish from the truck. All she wanted was a PINK fish!

T-Ball Fun

Let the fun begin! Dalton's second season in t-ball is underway. They had their 3rd practice last night. This year they are focusing on fundamentals of the game and well it's "still boring" in Dalton's words. Hopefully his interest in the game will increase, but we won't force it. Maybe an A&M Baseball game is in our future so he can see what's it's all about.

Rodeo Roundup

Last Friday before the Kindergarten Kingdom dismissed for Spring Break family and friends were entertained by their version of a rodeo roundup. My apologies on the pictures. Guess I did not adjust my settings from the trip because most of the pictures I took were blurry. Thankfully I videoed everything.

San Francisco

Our last day was spent touring San Francisco, mostly by foot other than a 2-hr narrated open top cable car ride. We made the most of the day and tried to cover every inch of the city and our feet and legs did not let us forget it either.

I thought this was so cool. I've seen them on tv but never in person.

During our tour we drove past the Argonaut Hotel, San Francisco's only 5-star hotel!!

A sample of the main span of the Golden Gate Bridge. The main span is 4200 feet. One cable is 7650 ft long and 36 3/8 inch in diameter. The cable along with suspenders and accessories is 24,500 tons. There are 27,572 wires in each cable.

In May, San Francisco will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge.

On our tour stop we actually walked out onto the bridge.

More pictures of homes. Notice these actually have small lawns which is rare in the city.

The houses below are known as "The Painted Ladies." They are Victorian style homes, but what makes them famous is the middle (yellow) house. The tv series "Full House" was filmed inside for those of you that remember the show.

San Francisco City Hall. It's not the best picture but the tour guide told us that it's the same size as the White House in D.C.

"The Condor" - San Francisco's 1st topless bar which is still open today.

The tour guide told us that if we want a little food with our garlic "The Stinking Rose" is the place to go!

Our lunch stop for a quick bite to eat.

We spent the afternoon in Chinatown.

Who's hungry?

Fresh produce anyone?

From Chinatown I wanted to make a stop at Macy's which is supposedly the second largest to New York. 7 floors could have taken some time to do some serious shopping. Instead we browsed a short time and headed to Bloomingdales.

At Bloomingdales I did make one purchase, a necklace.

We ended the night at Pier 39 to enjoy our last meal at the Crab House which is know for their dungeness crab.

Who's hungry now! We enjoyed a fabuous dinner of grilled crab and shrimp!
