Summer Vacation

Summer vacation means the end of a school year, for us that meant the end of pre-k for Dalton, and some good 'ole summer fun in the sun. St. Paul's school year ends one week before just about everyone else and for the last couple of years that has meant an early summer vacation before the crowds. Last year we headed to San Antonio with my parents to take on the San Antonio Zoo and Sea World. This year we headed towards the coast with Ryan's parents. We gave Dalton several choices on places we could visit. We ultimately had no plan when we got in the vehicle. We left Brenham and headed to Houston with a destination of Galveston in mind. Along the way Dalton chose to stop at the Houston Children's Museum (1st request), Houston Zoo, Moody Gardens and then mommy and daddy wanted to stop at Kemah on the way home for some fresh shrimp. All in all it was a great weekend. Going early certainly has it's advantages.

Houston Children's Museum

Dalton's first choice and our first stop on our mini summer vacation was the Children's Museum in downtown Houston. What an overwhelming, but amazing place for kids to interact and learn. We spent a couple hours which honestly could have been more. We only had to step into the entrance for Dalton to be mesmerized. He was ecstatic...so much to see and do. Our adventure was just beginning. I highly recommend a visit if you have not been before. I see us returning in the future.

Houston Zoo

Our next stop was the Houston Zoo. No people meant no lines and the zoo was practically ours to roam at our leisure. The kids were so excited we could not keep Mallory contained in the stroller and we seemed to be chasing Dalton like a wild child, but who doesn't like the zoo? Young or old the zoo is never a dissappointment.

Moody Gardens

From the Houston Zoo we headed to Moody Gardens with Grannie and Grandpa. The kids absolutely loved the Aquarium. In fact Mallory was so worn out running after the fish that she could not take any more and a nap was needed. The Colonel Paddle Boat ride in the bay was also on our list to do at Moody Gardens.

Mallory was not very fond of the dressed up penguins. Every time we saw a person in costume she would start crying, however she could not get enough of the real things.

The Rainforest Pyramid was not open, but we got a glance at a couple members.
