Where Did The Weekend Go?

Lately we seem to be asking ourselves "Where did the weekend go?", "Is it really time to go back to work?". Why is it that we can't wait for the weekends to come and then before we know it Monday is back? Well if you are in the Winkelmann household it's because the weekends are cramed full of activities. I guess this is also another factor in my blog delays. There just never seems to be enough time to download photos from the camera and blog about all the fun activites, but I'm going to try to catch back up.

This past weekend was a prime example. Saturday we had planned to take pictures in the pumpkin patch in Brenham with cousin Ely at 10:00 am, run to Giddings for a family reunion at lunch, then hurry back to Brenham for a birthday party at the aquatic center at 1:30 pm, take a brief rest at home before heading to a 1st birthday party in Carmine at 4:30 pm and then finish up the day with supper at my grandparents in Giddings. Not to mention we hoped to catch the A&M / Baylor score updates in between the activities. Well those were the plans until mid afternoon Friday when a fellow co-worker offered us two tickets to the A&M / Baylor game. We quickly made a few phone calls, thankfully no begging was needed, and rearranged Saturday's plans. The kids headed to my parents Friday night so we could get an early start to College Station for an 11:00 am kickoff. We re-scheduled pumpkin pictures to Sunday morning after church. The kids attended the family reunion with my parents while we went to the game. Unfortunately something had to go which was the 1:30 pm birthday party in Brenham. After the game we headed straight to Carmine to make a brief stop at the 1st birthday party and then we were off to Giddings for supper. Exhausted yet? How do we do it? We just take one day at a time and work through it. Life's not suppose to be simple, but this is crazy! I keep hoping for things to slow down, but looking at the calendar I don't see that happening.

Here are a few pictures from the A&M game, Parker's 1st birthday party and pumpkin pictures:

During the game in the student section the this banner was displayed briefly "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's conference deal." For those of you who understand this was worth sharing.

The final score A&M 55 Baylor 28. Whoop!!

We hope that Parker had a fabulous 1st birthday and apologize that we could not share in the celebration fully! The candy bar was amazing!

Pumpkin pictures with cousin Ely. This is the best one I got. It's difficult getting a 5 year old, 22 month old and 6 month old even looking the same direction much less smile at the same time.

Happy Belated B-day Granny "G"

As I'm looking back over the blogs and trying to catch back up I realized that somehow I forgot to recognize and wish Granny "G" a Happy Birthday! Well just because I forgot to blog about it does not mean that we forgot to celebrate. We took the party to her in the nursing home since she would rather not get out anymore. We enjoyed her favorite meal, fried chicken and had angel food cake for dessert while the kids enjoyed running around like indians (energy can only be stored for so long). Once again we were reminded just how blessed we are to have Granny "G" in our lives. We love you and continue to pray for good health!

Who needs toys when you have...

A BOX! This box has provided lots of enjoyment and it's share of fights. It never fails when one has something and is happy the other must aggravate and essentially a fight follows.

Team Crush

As I have mentioned before Dalton started soccer for the 1st time this fall and it seems to be going really well. We may actually have found something he likes. We finally took pictures this week and I thought I would share a couple.

Dewberry Farm

We loaded up the vehicle Saturday morning and headed to Dewberry Farm for a fun-filled family day. The weather was great, the crowd was manageable and the kids throughly enjoyed themselves. Dalton enjoyed Slide Mountain, Fort DewHickey, the Cow Train, Hay Mountain (a favorite), Farmer Flinger and the Giant Roller Slide. Both kids enjoyed picking out their own pumkins to take home.

This fall Dewberry Farm was selected to help celebrate and honor the U.S. space program in collaboration with NASA through an outreach program titled Space Farm 7. NASA is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first American in space, the 30th anniversary of the first Space Shuttle mission and the 20th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope's deployment in space. An aerial view of the corn maze this year says "One Small Step For Man - 50 Years NASA" and has many celestial objects carved throughout. During our visit Saturday Dalton was able to meet G. Reid Wiseman (Lieutenant Commander, USN) and NASA Astronaut.

Mallory was not big enough to swing from the rope, but she enjoyed the hay.

Both kids enjoyed a snow cone.

And they are off....

The Corn Bunk was another highlight for Dalton before we left.

A couple hour trip turned into a full day! They were worn out by the time we headed home! I'm certain they had fun!
