FLORIDA...We've missed you!

Saturday morning we hit the road for a short hour drive to the Florida state line.

Since we had most of the day we decided to head to the National Aviation Museum located on the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida.

As you can tell Dalton was in heaven. He was more interested in the aircraft carriers than the plans, but he did not miss a beat. I would have to say this was more a stop for Dalton than Mallory. Mallory was just not in the mood for planes, boats or pictures for that matter. It was certainly more than we expected. The best part...it was ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!

Road Trip'in

We headed out Friday morning and quickly learned traffic would not be our friend this trip.  The kids had plenty to keep them busy, but fighting between each other was more fun. Dalton's 10,000 questions the entire trip, "How many more minutes?", "Are we still in Texas?", "What city are we in?", "When are we getting to Florida?", "What state are we in?", "We will never get there!". These are just a few, but you get the idea. Imagine driving 13 hours, with a total of 3 stops, heavy rain and lots of traffic with a 6 year old and a 2 year old. Surpisingly the 2 year old was better than the 6 year old. 568 miles later we decided to stop in Mobile, Alabama for the night. 

We stopped in Biloxi for a bite to eat.

Ryan found this great Hampton Inn & Suites in Mobile. Definitely recommend if you are in the downtown Mobile area.

Goodbye Texas...

Hello Florida...for a week at least...oh how we have missed you! We are headed out for our 2nd Annual Family Vacation to Panama City Beach, Florida to the Sterling Resorts Splash Condos. We are not necessarily looking forward to the long car ride again with both kids, but white powdery sand between our toes, smiles on the kids faces and the clear blue tranquil water Florida has will make up for it. We had an absolute BLAST last year so why go anywhere else. It's the perfect spot for families at least with kids our age.

We sure are looking forward to visiting Shell Island this year, watching the dolphins, feeding the birds and pulling some crab and fish traps.

Swim Lessons

This post is way over due, but it is blog worthy. Both kids took swim lessons for two weeks back in June. They both love the water and this is an investment that we will continue for the foreseeable future. The last couple of weeks Mallory has come home and immediately changed into her swimsuit and is ready to swim. We don't even own a pool, is this a hint? Not sure, but I'm glad to know the kids are at ease with water and know how to get to the edge of the pool if they have to. They may not be olympic swimmers, but they know water safety.



July 4th - Round Top, Texas

We hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July! Our crew enjoyed a low-key day given that the holiday fell in the middle of the work week. We did make our annual trek down to the Round Top Parade and then enjoyed some delicous BBQ at the Rifle Hall. Both kids got in a nap and then enjoyed sparklers that evening. We topped off the day by watching the Freedom Over Texas Fireworks Celebration on TV. God Bless the USA! Thanks to ALL the military men and women who serve to allow us to have the freedom we do in America!

Settling In

After a solid 4 weeks Mallory is settling into a routine at St. Paul's. Last week when I dropped her off I was so proud of her. No tears were shed and she willingly got out of the vehicle on her own and walked into the day school. Daily school reports now say she is a very/happy person, good rester and on most days is a very good eater. She enjoys the playground the most and is enjoying bible school this week. Thankfully those first couple of weeks are over for all of us.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Granny for making Mallory's resting blanket and pillow case. Not sure what I would do without her creative sewing talents.
