Mallory 7 Month Update

At 7 months Mallory is a very active little girl. Around 6 1/2 months she was up on all four's rocking, but learned that she can move faster 'army style'. The swing nor bouncer can satisfy her any longer. The exersaucer/walker may content her for a few minutes, but that to restricts her and makes her unhappy. We continue to learn that she is a people person. She wants/needs attention 24/7. Unlike Dalton, Mallory can not easily entertain herself. She absolutely does not like to be confined. Her attention span is very short. Show her something and 10 minutes later she is ready for something new.

She is eating stage 2 foods like a champ. Blowing Bubbles like a princess. Can reach for anything and take it straight to her mouth. Objects move from hand to hand and then back to the mouth. Bouncing is a favorite. Sitting up unassisted gives a new view to the world. She has learned that her feet can go to her mouth. Still no teeth. With all this said Mallory is an extremely happy baby. Rarely does she not have a smile on her face. She is extremely friendly and playful. Lots of cooing and babling.

Last weekend we attempted to take 7 month pictures in the grass, but she was uncertain about sitting in something so pokey. The 1st photo opp was with Granny's Mustang. We took Dalton's 6 month pictures with the Mustang, but since Mallory could not sit up by herself quite yet at 6 months we decided to wait a month. Look for a future post taking a look back and comparing Dalton and Mallory at 6 and 7 months.

1st driving lesson

I'm ready to go...

If the grass wasn't bad enough the rocks certainly were not happening. I snapped this just before she started to cry.

It did not matter where we put her it was clear she was not liking it.

Here is a couple of video's from this weekend. Dalton is really enjoying being able to interact and play with Mallory now.

Vacation Bible School

Salem had their vacation bible school last week which meant leaving work at 4:00, picking Dalton up from school by 4:45 and heading straight to church to make the meal by 5:00. It was an action packed week as we were "buzzin around the beehive". It was both exhausting and fun. I think the most exhausting part was getting home at 9:00 and convincing Dalton it was time for a bath and bed. He on the other hand was so wound up from VBS and confused because he just got home and did not get to play like he normally does any other week. We survived and ended VBS 2010 Friday night with closing and hamburgers.

Dalton was a busy little bee learning to "Zip---Zap---Zoom for Christ". The kids learned to "Bee-Bold, Bee-Brave, Bee-lieve and Bee-filled". Most importantly they learned that Jesus said, "The work of God is this: to BELIEVE in the one he has sent." John 6:29.


Everyday after the opening story in chapel the kids headed outside for games. These hula hoops were a hit along with bubbles.

The playground was also a MUST each night. Thursday night there were no games which meant no playground time and boy were the kids bummed.

This was one of Dalton's favorite spots to play.

After games and a quick bathroom break and drink of water we were off to music.

The coolest part of VBS was science with Dr. Phillips. Dr. Phillips is a beekeeper by hobby so each night going along with the theme we learned about bees. The kids got to see real bees up close.

This also meant they got to try honey.

During crafts each child painted clay pots to resemble a bee.

In science they also got to make real candles out of beeswax. This was pretty cool if I may say so.

Dalton also got to use a microscope for the first time.

The week wrapped up with Dalton volunteering to try on the beekeeper hat and everyone enjoying a fried 'real' grasshopper. Kids will eat anything, but I on the other hand could not stomach the wings and legs so I passed.

Father's Day 2010

Cheers to an amazing dad and husband! You do so much for us and we are grateful. We hope you enjoy your fishing trip. Thanks to all of the dads in our lives, ya'll are all an inspiration. We hope you had a fabulous Father's Day.

Growing Up...Too Fast

Just a quick update on Mallory. She will be 7 months this Friday...where does the time go? I know I say it all the time, but within the last week she has grown up so much. We come home everyday from work and see changes. Just within the last week she is now on all fours rocking back and forth. She is not officially crawling on all fours just yet, it's more like the army crawl, but it won't be too long. She has also learned to sit up unassisted and can go from laying to halfway sitting up all by herself. Our little princess is growing up right before our eyes.

But she's right back up...

and down...she was so excited she could not wait to get to the bathroom for her bath.

She absolutely loves to play in the water. This was her first experience in the big bath tub.

What are little boys made of...MUD!

Why do we even have toys when water and dirt can entertain for hours? Dalton barely stepped foot inside the house yesterday when he got home from school before he was back outside checking out all the mud puddles from the rain. I remember when he could not stand to have his hands dirty even from eating. Look where we are today.
